RECORD SETTING AND SQUIRT BOATING

RECORD SETTING AND SQUIRT BOATING

Sunday 17th May saw over one hundred  paddlers head to Lee Valley White Water Centre to try and set the World Record for the most kayaks rolling simultaneously. While the two rolls that were required by everyone were completed in a matter of seconds, the wait to see if the record had been set took slightly longer. Before leaving the white water centre Hugh, my dad and I took our Rockstars up onto the Olympic course for a great session of surfing, looping and cartwheeling as well as many attempts at the bigger moves. Later that evening the official confirmation came through…We’d set the World Record with 123 rollers! It was a great event on Lee Valley Paddlesports Club’s fist anniversary.

The following weekend was the first training session for the GB squirt boat team and after the arrival of my brand new Slip earlier in the week, I could not have been more excited to try it out. The training involved a flat water and mystery move session and the slip didn’t disappoint at either. As always, the coaching from Claire O’Hara and Ben White was fantastic and has given me a lot to work on before the World Championships in Canada– just waiting for the last A level exam to be over with now so I can get on the water more!
