This season has been another unforgettable one and a really good end to my time in the Junior Ladies category. I have loved every minute competing as a junior (all 10 years of it), and I am extremely excited for the challenge of the Senor category. I have managed to gain podium rankings in both World and European championships, represented GB in 5 different countries and have enjoyed every second of it. Since the start of winter I have been using the local Kingfisher swimming pool to practice my squirt boating! The warmth makes a pleasant change, and the clear water is very helpful when trying to see what I’m doing upside down! The facility is great, especially with a café for after paddling, and a sloping pool bottom, making getting in and out very easy! Thanks to the Kingfisher Leisure Centre and Squarerock! Having returned from an excellent event at Hurley Weir, the question was: What next? The local weirs were at a very low level, and it was too cold for flat water freestyle (mostly). Just when it seemed we were going to have to do long distance paddling in long boats (the horror!), the rain came! The weirs shot up… the temperature did not. The local weir, on high levels, can form a small stopper. Despite the flow on the river, after paddling upstream we found a stopper worth stopping for!
