While many of you were competing over the weekend for the freestyle GB team I continued to train with less than two weeks until junior GB slalom selection. For the last 4 weeks the awesome Dennis Newton has been living and training with me and Jez in Sydney and New Zealand. So last week we had some exciting news, the 2015 Jackson Kayak Zen had finally arrived in the UK.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on one for the weekend. On first look the main things that I noticed was the flared sidewall and the ample bow rocker which is great for keeping the nose of the boat dry. In 8 months time the ICF World Championships will be taking place on ‘Garb’ wave on the Ottawa river in Canada. The Ottawa River is renowned amongst freestyle kayakers as one of the best training venues and is home to some of the best surf waves in the world. In the summers there’s warm water, sunshine and a mixture of small and smooth and fast technical waves and in the spring its home to some of the biggest most challenging waves ever surfed. Hello this is my first post on the Squarerock Blog, my name is Elliott Davidson I’m a canoe slalom athlete. I represent Ireland and compete internationally on the U23 and senior team.
